Find the right school for you
If you have a master’s degree in psychology from a regionally accredited school in or around West Virginia and have been under the supervision of a licensed psychologist for at least five years, you can take the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP). If you pass with a score of 500 or more, the West Virginia Board of Psychology will let you sit for an oral examination to earn your license.
To become a school psychologist in West Virginia, you must have a master’s or education specialist degree, have studied under a licensed school psychologist for at least three years and pass the Praxis exam with at least a score of 660. Then you may sit for an oral examination with the Board.
If you have earned your doctorate in psychology and worked under a licensed psychologist for at least two years, you may then pass the EPPP (earning at least a 500) before sitting for an oral examination with the Board.
