In Idaho, CNA training programs also offer classes designed to prepare aspiring CNAs for certification and employment. Although required classes are specific to each nursing aide program, all programs must cover coursework in:
- Body mechanics
- Nutrition

- Infection control
- Patient care procedures
- Patient rights
- Occupational responsibilities
- Effective communication
- Accurate medical recordkeeping

If a nursing assistant student successfully passes state examination, the official title of certified nurse assistant is bestowed, and CNAs are registered by the state as legally competent to practice in Idaho. The next step is to find employment. Although job requirements differ between employers, many expect current CNA certification, CPR certification, high school diploma or equivalent, proof of nursing assistant program graduation, prior experience, references, criminal background checks and physical examination records. Because the majority of CNAs are employed by hospitals and nursing care facilities, job seekers are encouraged to research local institutions first. Other places to look include personal care providers, hospices and home health agencies. To maximize hiring potential, find health care facilities in regions of higher population densities where positions and new openings are more plentiful.
Through either online or campus based programs, aspiring C.N.A.s in Boise, Idaho Falls, Pocatello and Meridian, Idaho may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, St. Luke's Boise Medical Center, St. Luke's Children's Hospital and Complex Care Hospital.
