Although most states require Massage Therapists to be licensed, Idaho is one of the few states that does not require licensure. Still, it is in the best interest of both the therapist (for professional, educational, and networking purposes) and the client (for quality assurance) that therapists complete coursework through an accredited online program of through one of the Idaho massage therapy schools that include clinical experience.
A high school diploma is typically all that is required for admittance into Idaho Massage Therapy schools, although postsecondary education can be very advantageous, especially study in subjects such as anatomy, physiology, and business practices.
The American Massage Therapists Association provides a list of schools on its web site (www.amtamassage.org). Schools or programs are accredited by the United States Department of Education to ensure that the training meets certain standards. The Commission on Massage Therapy Association (www.comta.org) is another accrediting body.
Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Massage Therapists in Boise, Idaho Falls, Pocatello and Meridian, Idaho may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, and St. Luke's Boise Medical Center.
