In Idaho, stroke is the 3rd leading cause of death. According to the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare, in 2004 alone 7.1% of deaths were attributed to stroke, claiming the lives of nearly 3,369 Idaho residents. However, in 2007, the number of deaths in Idaho due to stroke decreased by about 20%, which is a considerable improvement over a 3-year period.  One of the reasons that the rate of stroke may have decreased in Idaho is the diligence of radiology technicians, as they work hard to detect critical diseases early on when treatment can be beneficial and increase the patient’s prognosis.
