In Illinois, careers in healthcare management are the structural backbone of any medical clinic or healthcare facility. These professionals have a profound dedication to patient care and confidentiality. In order to adhere to this principle, healthcare administrators in Illinois are tied to the responsibility of maintaining smoothly running, goal-oriented, quality-focused healthcare facilities.

There is no doubt that the medical community is expanding, and healthcare administration jobs in Illinois are growing as well. The Bureau of Labor Statistics has done studies which revealed that a potential 16% increase in the demand for healthcare administration professionals between now and 2018. The main reasons for this increase are:

  • An aging population with more of the elderly needing medical intervention and diagnostic care
  • Government laws being implemented to demand more efficient procedures and quality documentation control
  • Insurance companies demanding more thorough medical documentation before authorizing payment
  • More citizens needing care on government/state programs like Medicaid

In Illinois, the places of employment for healthcare administrators and managers are numerous. While most healthcare administrators in Illinois work in hospitals and nursing home facilities, the need remains strong in outpatient surgery clinics, private physicians’ offices, specialty practices, surgical centers, and multi-specialty medical clinics.
