Illinois Professional Organizations for Radiology Technologists

Many radiologic technologists are members of one or more professional associations.  Membership advantages include discounted rates for courses and symposiums, access to monthly professional journals, updates on legislative issues related to the profession, opportunities for continuing education and volunteering, and resources on a variety of topics for professionals as well as students.   While membership is not required in a professional association, it is often recommended and encouraged by educators to their students and by employers to their employees.  

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) is the national governing body for the profession and the Illinois State Society of Radiologic Technologists (ISSRT) is the state equivalent governing body.  Each organization is governed by a volunteer board of directors and functions from bylaws and constitutional guidelines.  Membership fees are applied in categories for professionals and students and are charged annually.
