Education beyond high school for dental assistants is minimal. Dental assistants should take the following high school courses:
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Health
  • Mathematics
  • Office Practices

Indiana Dental Assistants Continuing Education

Dental assistants do not have a lot of room or advancement unless they choose to continue their education. While this is not required in Indiana, it is encouraged. Many dental assistants will choose to go on to become dental hygienists. Their employer may even offer incentives to reimbursement to do so. The state does not require any continuing education for dental assistants unless they are qualified in coronal polishing or fluoride administration. If they are qualified, they will need to maintain their qualification requirements. They will also need to keep their CPR certification current.

Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Dental Assistants in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and Evansville, Indiana may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Deaconess Hospital, Community Hospital East, and Parkview Hospital.
