Completion of an accredited physician assistant program in Indiana is a required by the state licensing board.  Licensing in Indiana can only be received if the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) educational requirements have been met.


Students of accredited physician assistant programs in Indiana will be educated in all aspects of primary care medicine.  Procedures will be taught emergency room situations as well as clinical medicine. The physician assistant program is meant to work with the physicians own training, meaning an intensive, and demanding course load.  

Programs can be completed in about 26 months of full time study.  There are approximately 140 accredited physician assistant programs available in the United States.  Once a program is completed, students will be expected to complete a clinical rotation of one year.
