There are a number of stand-alone integrative medicine schools in Idaho to choose from. While some of these institutions may be private universities, others may be public community colleges. The key to choosing the best school is to choose one with an academic program that ideally matches your professional career goals.
After doing a bit of research, you will see that each integrative medicine school in Idaho designs its own specific degree program. Overall, licensed medical professionals can expand their knowledge to include integrative medicine by completing a certificate program, usually in complementary alternative medicine (CAM). Idaho students that are looking to break into the medical field can begin with a bachelor or master degree path where an emphasis is placed on integrative and holistic medicinal approaches.
A 2008 study released by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) revealed that approximately 38% of adults and 12% of children were using alternative therapies. One of the highest age brackets of patients using alternative medicine, roughly 56%, was between the ages of 60 and 84. In Idaho, this particular age bracket accounts for roughly 19% of the total population. Interestingly, alternative medicine use was higher among female populations, which accounts for about 50% of Idaho’s total population.
