You’ll find that, what kind of long term care education you need to pursue in Kansas is largely dependent on what kind of career you’re looking to land.

Nurse aids and resident assistants in the states will only need to go through a training program that usually lasts between four and six weeks. You’ll learn all the basic you’ll need to contribute quality-of-life care to the patients in your facility, as well as how to work alongside allied health professionals to help them improve the health and wellbeing of the facility’s residents.

Nurses will need to earn either a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a state-accredited campus-based or online school. During the three to five years of your education, you’ll complete a comprehensive supervised internship, take long-term care specific classes in addition to your standard nursing curriculum, and have to pass both the NCLEX-RN, and the Kansas state’s board own elderly care exam for nurses.

Nursing home administrators will at least want to earn a relevant bachelor’s degree, generally on life care facility management. The curriculum for these degree programs blend business, finance, and managerial classes, with the specifics of running and overseeing a lifetime care operation. Before you can get a license from the state, you’ll need to complete 480 hours of a guided internship, and take exams given by both the state board, and a nationally certifying nursing home administration agency. 60 hours of CE, or continuing education, is required every 2 years to maintain your license.
