Educational Requirements for Public Health Workers in Kansas
Graduation from high school is an essential step in obtaining a public health position in the state of Kansas. The next step an individual needs to take is to find an accredited public health program. The Association of Schools of Public Health offers a directory of programs which are available both nationally and in the state of Kansas. Searches can be made on the website @ http://www.asph.org. Another website that assists prospective public health students with information on programs is http://www.sophas.org. The Sophas website gives both international and national program options to prospective public health professionals. There are more than fifteen degree possibilities, as well as twenty degree choices in public health.
Because there are so many possible career choices in public health in this state, the curriculum offered by Kansas public health schools will have substantial variations. Courses can range from administrative, biology, mathematics, and sociology, as well as many other core classes.
Continuing Education
Continuing education is a necessary part of most any health care profession, including public health. Continuing education offers professionals an opportunity to learn new and innovative information about the public health field. In Kansas, continuing education courses can be taken as part of the KRHIS health program, or through any accredited institution. Courses in continuing education are available in virtually every topic, allowing public health professionals the opportunity to expand experience and knowledge.
