In Kentucky, careers in healthcare management are imperative to the overall function of any hospital or medical facility. Healthcare managers are responsible for hiring and training staff, implementing safety procedures, following patient safety and confidentiality laws, overseeing documentation quality analysis, and so much more. For this reason, no medical facility can operate without a healthcare administrator.

Healthcare administration jobs in Kentucky are growing, and there is little doubt that this growth will continue in the years to come. The Bureau of Labor Statistics conducted a study in 2008 that determined a potential 16% increase through 2018 is expected for healthcare administration managers in Kansas, adding an element of job security to the profession. Some of the aspects contributing to this finding included:

  • Increasing age of the general population
  • More patients eligible for Medicare and Medicaid programs
  • Federal regulations demanding more accountability for healthcare providers
  • More medical documentation being required to receive payment from private insurance companies and the Medicaid program

In Kentucky, careers in healthcare management have many different faces. They can be found in hospitals, surgery centers, mental health institutions, women’s clinics, specialty health centers, nursing care facilities, and rehabilitation centers.
