Radiology technicians in Kentucky must graduate from a program in radiation therapy, radiography, or nuclear medicine offered by an accredited two-year or four-year college or university. Aspiring radiology technicians pursue a rigorous academic program with an emphasis on the life and physical sciences. Typical course selections include biology, anatomy and physiology, chemistry, physics, radiography, and medical terminology. Students learn the fundamentals of various radiological diagnostic techniques and specialties, including plain radiographics, computerized tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, mammography, nuclear medicine, and angiography.
