Online schooling has grown tremendously in popularity over the last several years. While some students still prefer the typical classroom to at-home learning, many students are pulling away from this ideal and moving towards the convenience and affordability of online LPN programs.
Choosing to attend an LPN online school definitely requires independence and accountability because there will not be a teacher standing over your shoulder to make sure that you get your work done. You have to be willing to take on this task yourself and dedicate the appropriate amount of time to your studies.
Especially if you have a full-time job or children, you have probably realized that going to school is going to cost you precious time
and money, and it might even have you wondering if going to school will be possible for you. Well, online schools have taken a lot of the guesswork out of that equation.
If you are pressed for time, an LPN online school will give you the convenience of attending school at the hours that are most convenient for you, and because there is much less overhead for online schools, the discount gets passed to you; so the total cost of your education may be almost half as much as it would otherwise be. These are certainly good enough reasons to at least consider online schools.
Just select the button below and complete the short form requesting information and an admissions counselor will be in contact with you shortly to discuss your online LPN degree options, and guide you through enrollment.
LPN Online Curriculum
So what can you expect to learn from a LPN program? Before you even decide if this type of career is right for you, you may want to take a look at what you will be expected to know. You will see the same type of course curriculum in both online schools and in conventional schools, although there may be some variance with each given school.Anatomy and Physiology
This class is where your understanding of the practice of nursing begins. Without understanding how the human body is put together and the chemical compositions that make it function as it does, you won’t be able to understand your role as a LPN. So this course is exceedingly important and, for that reason, will be taught at the very beginning of most programs.Growth and Development
This class will teach you how the body changes over time and, essentially, how it matures over time. Growth and development is a continual process that the body undergoes as it ages, from infancy to elderly. There are chemical changes that occur inside the body that help muscles to strengthen, bones to form, and cells to reproduce. Building on what you learned in anatomy and physiology, this course will show you how the structures of the body change to become the adult body.
If you are considered working in a pediatric unit or a geriatric unit, this LPN online course will be that much more valuable to you.
Pharmacology
Pharmacology is basically the study of medicine. As a LPN, it will be your responsibility to accurately assess the condition of a patient and to provide medications that are necessary and suitable. Naturally, you would not be able to do that if you never had any knowledge of pharmacology. While there may be several different name brands and types of medications out there, you will need to learn from the top. For example, this class will teach you what a serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) is (a type of antidepressant medication). However, when you are prescribing this type of medication for your patients, you will need to choose from several different brands and dosages. For this reason, it will be imperative that you understand how all of the different drugs work.
