Lactation consultant training in Maine is one of the final steps that you will take before you begin your career. As a graduation requirement, training programs in Maine are developed with the intention of making you successful and providing you with the training and knowledge to seek entry-level work as a lactation consultant. During this training program, you will be taught things like:

  • How to ensure optimum prenatal care
  • How to help mothers deal with postpartum care
  • How to ensure a sufficient flow of milk
  • How to combat breastfeeding complications or lack of flow
  • How to promote healthy breastfeeding

Before you can get to the point where you are ready for training, you must graduate from one of the lactation consultant schools in Maine. In Maine, you will need at least a bachelor degree and status as a registered nurse to be employable as a lactation consultant. Master degrees are available, however, if you decide at some point that you would like to continue on with your education.

In addition, the innovation of online education has brought many students closer to earning the degrees of their choice. Lactation consultant schools in Maine have realized how implementing online schooling can bring more individuals into this field, and so they have now incorporated online education into their lactation degree programs.

Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Lactation Consultants in Portland, Lewiston, Bangor, West Scarborough and Sanford, Maine may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Maine Medical Center, Mercy Hospital, Brighton Medical Center and St. Josephs Hospital.
