LPN School in Maine - ME

Future LPNs in Maine will serve themselves best by beginning the educational portion of their nursing during their high school years. They can do this by researching accredited schools that offer nursing programs with a clinical portion included in them. They can also best prepare by taking science classes in high school.

Students should complete the accredited nursing program to the practical nursing level. This program must contain a clinical component. In Maine, LPN schools prepare students to pass national certification exams and also provide an education that caters to the expectations of the state and prospective employers.

Once the educational portion of the process is completed with satisfactory grades, students can apply to take the National Council Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses. Students can test through the National Council of State Board of Nursing, Inc. or through the Maine State Board of Nursing. Those who test through the National Council of State Board of Nursing should make sure to request an endorsement so that they can practice nursing in the state of Maine. Those who test through the Maine State Board of nursing will automatically have a Maine endorsement.

Through campus based and online programs, aspiring LPNs in Portland, Lewiston, Bangor, West Scarborough and Sanford, Maine may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Maine Medical Center, Mercy Hospital, Brighton Medical Center and St. Josephs Hospital.
