Maine Nurse Informatics Certification - ME

There is not currently a professional license for nursing informatics in the State of Maine. There is, however, the requirement of nurse registration (RN) prior to beginning a career in nursing informatics. So, the thing to do to get your nursing informatics certification in Maine is to get registered and licensed as a nurse.
To do this, you must take the National Council Licensure Examination, which is more commonly called the NCLEX. The test can be taken at any location of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, or NCSBN, and the fee is $200.
To help get you started, review the steps below:
- Nurse registration, which is certifiable through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
- Consider the Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) certification of the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS). This is optional but strongly recommended.
In your next step, it is essential that you pass the ANCC examination, which has a charge of $390. After that, you are able to use the title RN-BC after your given name, and you can continue on your way to becoming a nursing informaticist. Keep in mind that your nursing registration has to be renewed every 5 years. Due to the fact that the requirements of renewal are subject to change, it is best to reference the ANCC to find out what those requirements are.
The CPHIMS test is optional, but you should definitely consider taking it. The testing cost is $375, and the attained credential is well worth the extra money spent. Should you decide on pursuing this level of certification, it must be renewed every 3 years. You can renew with 45 credits of additional education or by retaking the original exam.
