Schools for Public Health in Maine

Individuals that have an interest in attending Maine public health schools can search for programs through the Association of Schools of Public Health.  The website for the ASPH (www.asph.org).  Students can search the database for both national and international schools of public health simply by inputting an area of study and the degree level onto the site.  The ASPH distinguishes schools that are accredited members or associate members of the association.  In addition to being able to search for available bricks and mortar universities and vocational schools, students in Maine can also identify distance learning programs that are applicable to the public health field. 

The Masters in Public Health (MPH) is the most commonly sought degree program in schools of public health.  The MPH degree program is directed toward career professionals who already have a doctorate in a related public health field such as dentistry, law, or medicine. 

Continuing education can be found at most schools of public health.  The American Public Health Association offers continuing education links on its website at www.apha.org, as well as offering an annual exposition for public health professionals.

Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Public Health Professionals in Portland, Lewiston, Bangor, West Scarborough and Sanford, Maine may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Maine Medical Center, Mercy Hospital, Brighton Medical Center and St. Josephs Hospital.
