Cardiac Sonography Salaries in Maryland - MD

The US’s own Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that job openings and demand for cardiac sonographers will see a 24% increase over the next eight years, which is a vastly greater increase then almost any other career.

Because of this demand, and also because of the important nature of their work, cardiac sonographers are usually paid quite well. According to salary aggregator indeed.com, an average cardiac sonographer salary in Maryland averages $73,000. Because location plays a factor in salary, here are statistics for some of Maryland’s largest cities:

• Columbia - $79,000
• Ellicott City - $78,000
• Silver Spring - $76,000
• Baltimore - $70,000

Location, however, isn’t the only factor. You should also be considering what kind of care facility you want to be employed at. According to the BLS, the highest earners among cardiac sonographers in Maryland tend to be holders of bachelor’s degrees, and are usually employed at private practices that are turning a tidy profit.  They may also be found in management positions at care centers like John Hopkins Medical, or Prince George’s Hospital Center.

In the middle are usually the solid bulk of cardiac sonographers, who are employed in Maryland’s smaller hospitals, care centers, and contract staffing companies.
