Phlebotomy Certification Exam in Maryland – MD

Some Maryland phlebotomy certification programs require their applicants to take an entrance exam, which covers basic arithmetic and reading and comprehension skills. Once an applicant passes the exam, he will go through courses that cover phlebotomy's core competencies.

It is important to choose a credible and recognized certifying agency. There are nine organizations in the United States that certify people to become phlebotomists, and each agency has a different set of key requirements that candidates must fulfill before they sit for the exams. The American Society for Clinical Pathology, American Phlebotomy Association, American Society of Phlebotomists, and National Phlebotomy Association are all recognized as certifying bodies, and provide those they have certified with continuing education opportunities.

To get certified, applicants must meet the education, training, and health requirements of the agency they will be certified through before they take the phlebotomy certification exam in Maryland. When they meet these requirements, they must pay an application and certification fee.
