Physician Assistant Program in Maryland - MD
By an allied health world contributing writerPublished: January 8th, 2010
One option is to participate in one of the four-year Bachelor of Science Physician Assistant programs in Maryland. The first two years of this program consist of liberal arts classes. In the second half of the program, students are engaged in work specific to the PA profession such as human anatomy and physiology, lab work, and clinical rotations.
Finally, students who already have a Bachelor of Science degree may complete a Master of Science program online in collaboration with a certificate program.
Physician Assistant programs in Maryland typically only admit 30-40 students each year. Some programs require applicants to have up to 700 hours of work in the medical field with patient contact prior to admission. It is clear that having medical experience and patient contact when applying will give applicants a greater chance of admission.
