Maryland Public Health Education
The Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) is a stand-alone agency that is recognized by the US Department of Education. This agency is allowed to accredit Maryland public health schools, as well as public health programs that are offered in a nontraditional school environment. The Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) represents the CEPH-accredited schools. The ASPH strives to improve public health by continually researching and applying new tools for graduate and professional education. They also partner with other agencies to advance the curriculum in public health schools. Furthermore, the ASPH collects national data and educational trends related to public health.Currently the state of Maryland has one ASPH accredited school and one ASPH associate school. The definition of an associate school is one that plans to become a fully accredited school of public health. The school still needs to go through a formal review process given by the CEPH. http://www.ceph.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=1
