There are two accredited Maryland ultrasound technician schools in Maryland—one at a major hospital and one at a major university. There is also an associate’s degree program available at a community college. All three programs are approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), which requires an internship/externship or similar clinical experience as a significant component of the training. This hands-on training is a critical piece of the ARDMS certification process as well.

There are also several online certificate and associates degree programs available that offer the necessary training for ARDMS certification qualification. Most of these programs include a clinical experiential component, but students exploring these options should do the requisite research to make sure that the program they choose includes the hands-on experience they need to pass the Prerequisite criteria for ARDMS.
