In Massachusetts, cardiac sonographers are a hotly-demanded member of the allied health team. While for a long time it was very difficult and expensive to get accurate cardiac diagnosis of a patient’s vascular systems and heart, cardiac sonographers are able to do this relatively cheaply, and painlessly, through ultrasound imaging machines.

Cardiac sonographer jobs in Massachusetts take three forms. Many sonographers work with large healthcare providers, like the Harvard Medical School, or the Marlborough Hospital. There they may work on a team with many other cardiovascular diagnosticians, like radiologists and EKG technicians.

Cardiologist’s offices also frequently employ the most skilled cardiac sonographers in Massachusetts, and occasionally a doctor or physician who feels a compelling need for an in-house sonographer will attempt to hire one, though this is rare.

It is increasingly common for cardiac sonographers to find work with contracting and medical ‘temping’ agencies. These companies hire cardiac sonographers out to hospitals, clinics, and medical facilities that don’t have the resources or the demand for a full time sonographer. Working in this area usually means constant travel, and excellent compensation and salary.

Wherever they end up, cardiac sonographers in Massachusetts perform an essential health service. The information and images they are able to generate often help save lives, as the heart’s valves and vessels are one of the most vital parts of the human body. Whether they’re measuring a patient’s vitals during a stress test on a treadmill, or performing an echocardiogram, cardiac sonographers in Massachusetts are among the most respected, well-paid, and satisfied members of the allied health field.
