Upon earning certification, lactation consultants have a wide range of job opportunities across the state of Massachusetts. Under the state’s breastfeeding initiative, more lactation consultants are being employed in hospitals such as Massachusetts General, Winchester Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and Marlborough Hospital. While 79% of mothers are breastfeeding upon release from Massachusetts hospitals, these lactation consultants will help ensure that breastfeeding continues upon baby’s arrival in the home.

The salary for a lactation consultant is usually similar to that of a clinical nurse specialist.
