Once you have completed training from a Massachusetts medical assistant school, you are then eligible to sit for the designated examination. You will want to make sure that you are taking a test from a nationally accredited organization such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). It is very important as you apply to take the certification exam that you pay close attention to the qualifications necessary through the testing organization.

Medical office assistants, certified medical assistants (CMAs) and registered medical assistants (RMAs) are required to maintain a current CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation) certification in the state of Massachusetts. Finally, once you have completed all required training from one of many medical assistant schools in Massachusetts and passed the certification examination you will be ready to look for a job in the field. Massachusetts is very desirable state in which you can gain employment as a medical assistant, especially once you have completed a formal training process.

Continuing Education

As a medical assistant in Massachusetts there are at least two requirements to keep certification in good standing. One requirement is to keep an updated CPR certification. The other main requirement is to complete continuing education units according to the organization by which you are certified. The AAMA requires 60 continuing education units every 5 years including topics in the administrative, clerical and general study. While the requirement is in place as part of your ability to re certify, it is important to look at continuing education as an opportunity to learn more about developments within the medical community and your profession specifically.

Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Medical Assistants in Boston, Worcester, Springfield, Cambridge and Lowell, Massachusetts may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Massachusetts General Hospital, Winchester Hospital, Harvard Medical School and Marlborough Hospital.
