How to Become a Radiology Tech in Massachusetts - MA

The state of Massachusetts is among the world’s most concentrated areas of health care research and development. Radiology techs in this area will find themselves not only in an area full of medical and scientific talent, but of high salaries and medical advancement as well. Massachusetts is truly an exceptional state to be a part of the health care industry.

Under state law, only those holding a current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist license issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts may provide radiologic services. The certification process includes:

    • Graduation from a two year accredited Massachusetts Radiology Tech training program.
    • Massachusetts does not have a state exam. Therefore, passing either of the national exams, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technologists Certification Board (NMTCB) exams allows the candidate eligibility to practice in the state of Massachusetts.
    • Those who have completed a Massachusetts radiology tech training program but not the national exams are eligible for a one-year temporary license to practice in Massachusetts.
    • All licenses are issued in two-year periods, during which each professional must complete a set of continuing education credits (CEUs).
