How to Become a Massage Therapist in Connecticut - CT

Connecticut massage therapist certification for licensure requires the fulfillment of a number of prerequisites. A Connecticut massage therapy certification applicant must:


1. Graduate from a school of massage therapy and undergo coursework of at least 500 hours with an instructor present and is accredited either (1) by an agency that the U.S. Department of Education recognizes or by a state board OR (2) by the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation.

2. Pass the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. 

3. Submit: a notarized application along with $375.00 application fee, made out to “Treasurer, State of Connecticut”; a form from a school confirming completion of the appropriate classes for massage therapy; verification of passing the exam; and verification of any licenses or certifications held from other states.
