How to Become a Massage Therapist in Delaware - DE
By an allied health world contributing writerPublished: January 7th, 2010
Delaware passed legislation in 1993 regulating Massage Therapists. In order to practice, Delaware Massage Therapist certification for licensure issued by the Delaware Board of Massage and Bodywork is required, even if you hold a license or certificate from another state or country. If you have a diploma from an accredited massage program or already have certification from a professional association (e.g., the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork), you must receive Delaware massage therapy certification to be licensed by the state of Delaware.
Once training is completed, Delaware Massage Therapy Certification for licensure can be granted. First apply to take the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCETMB) through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBMTB) to become nationally certified. In addition to the application, you must submit several other documents and pay $225 to sit for the exam. Details can be found at the NCBMTB’s web site, www.ncbtmb.org, or contact the NCBTMB.
