The average New York massage therapist salary is $62,000 a year. The mean salary, according to the BLS, however, is $51,260. New York City and its suburbs skew the average New York massage therapist salary figures substantially.

Not surprisingly, salaries for massage therapists in New York City are higher than the state average and considerably higher than salaries in many of the state’s major cities. Not only is the population of New York City exponentially higher than in most cities (thus providing more opportunities to treat injured people) but there are both large tourist populations and populations with expendable income—both prime candidates for spa-level massage therapy!

This list shows the average New York massage therapist salary by major city:

- Albany: $45,000
- Buffalo: $44,000
- Ithaca: $43,000
- Nassau: $44,000
- New York City: $66,000
- Rochester: $43,000
- Syracuse: $49,000
- Yonkers: $64,000
