Oregon Massage Therapists Salary - OR
By an allied health world contributing writerPublished: February 19th, 2010
For many massage therapists, the flexibility of working when they want is one of the bonuses of the job. While some massage therapists may collect a regular salary (in a hospital setting, for example), most earn for each massage and collect tips. The per-hour fee depends both on what type of massage the client requests and whether the massage therapist works for a business or for himself or herself. For many massage therapists, tips, can comprise 15 to 20 percent of their wages.
The national median hourly wage, according to a 2006 report published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (a division of the U.S. Department of Labor) is slightly above $16 per hour.
The BLS’s 2008 report of Oregon put the annual salary at nearly $54,000. What follows is a list taken from indeed.com of Oregon’s largest cities and average salaries for massage therapists advertised there.
