Tennessee Massage Therapists Salary - TN

Massage Therapists typically charge by the hour or a specific length of massage. Fees vary depending on the type of massage, whether the therapist is the owner of the business and the location (i.e., a high-end spa vs. a strip-mall walk-in site). Tips, of course, add extra wages and can make up 15 to 20 percent of your salary.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the national median hourly wage at just over $16 an hour in its 2006 report. But its 2008 report for the state of Tennessee put the annual salary at just over $38,000. Below are some average salaries for 2009 taken from indeed.com for several large cities in the state.
