Continuing Education/Licensure Renewal Requirements in Alaska

Because Alaska does not currently regulate the massage therapy profession, there are no massage therapy continuing education requirements in the state.   You should check with your local city government, health department and/or local police department for information about specific requirements for massage therapy training in Alaska as well as the continuing education requirements in your area.

You can recertify your national NCBTMB certification.  This recertification program focuses on continued quality service.  Candidates who want to renew their certification must submit forty-eight (48) continuing education hours and documentation for 200 hours of work experience completed during the four-year certification cycle.
Because the NCBTMB program is adaptable it offers ten options, which allow recertification on your own time, budget and schedule.  For example, your options would include:  CE hours from NCBTMB Approved Provider; ; certifications outside of NCBTMB; academic course work; a College degree; state and national presentations; holding national and state leadership positions; clinical internship; research; publications; and self-directed learning projects.

Additionally, the AMTA Alaska chapter updates its offerings of continued education frequently.  Be sure to check with this organization for more information.
