Professional Organizations in Indiana for Massage Therapists
Founded in 1943, the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) is a national organization that works to integrate massage therapy into basic maintenance and good health practices throughout the nation. This is achieved through legislative involvement, raising public awareness, and providing professional development resources for its members. The Indiana chapter of the AMTA is housed in Muncie. Membership in the Indiana Chapter of the AMTA requires, an annual fee ($235 for professionals, and $79 for students), NCBTMB certification, and 48 Continuing Education Credits every four years. Other national professional organizations include the American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA), which promotes Asian Bodywork Therapies such as accupressure, and Zen Shiatsu massage.
Continuing Education for Massage Therapists in Indiana
Indiana does not currently require Continuing Education hours for individuals who have completed massage therapy training in Indiana, but certification must be renewed every four years and a renewal fee is required.
