If you have a national massage therapy certification, you’ll need to satisfy the requirements for renewal. NCBTMB certificate recipients must complete 48 hours of continuing education (CE) and have 200 hours of related and documented work experience for each four-year recertification cycle. In addition, specific requirements apply:

  • Continuing education must be given by an NCBTMB-approved provider
  • Six of the 48 hours of CE must be in the study of ethics
  • Two of the six CE hours in ethics must address “Standard V, Roles and Boundaries”
  • All 48 hours of continuing education can be obtained via home study (e.g., on-line) coursework

Continuing education from non-NCBTMB-approved providers may be accepted, provided it complies with NCBTMB guidelines
