Internships as Part of Medical Assistant Programs
You will be required to complete an internship as part of most medical assistant training programs. While all of the information that
you will have learned up until that point is necessary and informative, there is probably no better learning experience than an internship. Each school and state will vary in its requirements of the internship; however, most of the time you will need at least 160 hours of internship time.During the internship portion of medical assistant programs you will be working under the direct supervision of a licensed physician. You will work as a medical assistant by tending to patients, preparing specimen samples, reviewing medical records, and assessing patient complaints. This experience will give you the opportunity to combine the information that you learned in school with the real world, and it will show you how all your education applies to the profession of a medical assistant.
