According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, for the social worker in medical and public health, in Michigan, the salary in May 2008 was approximately $48,470 with an hourly amount of $23.30. A search on Indeed.com shows that a social worker in Detroit, MI makes $63,000, approximately.  The average overall Michigan public health salary is, $67,000.  This is much higher than the older data of the US BLS.

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that in a nursing care facility for health care managers, in May of 2006, the average salary was $66,730.  Indeed.com reports that a nursing home administrator in Michigan in general makes approximately $103,000.  This is much higher than what the US BLS is reporting.  A search at Indeed.com for a salary for Detroit, MI specifically shows a salary of $97,000.  Still a lot higher than what the US BLS was reporting.  It could be because the US BLS data is three years old.
