Minnesota Personal Trainer Schools - MN

The website ISEEK states that regarding education for a personal trainer in Minnesota, educational requirements vary, depending on the employer. It is becoming more and more common, however, for personal trainers to earn a bachelor’s degree. Specifically, they earn bachelor’s degrees in sports medicine or in a field that would be applicable to personal training.  Gaining experience in the field is also ideal as is training while already working in the field.  ISEEK reports that training in CPR and first aid are often requirements of employment.

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employers are recently more often requiring bachelor’s degrees as a rule instead of an exception, when hiring personal trainers.  Fields of study besides sports medicine could include something in the health field or physical education.  Trainers could also begin with on the job training, as mentioned on ISEEK, working with an experienced personal trainer, then moving on to working solo with a client.

Personal trainers could opt not to get an education and just take some courses, or get a bachelor’s degree.  The full degree would normally take approximately four years.  A certification could take a much shorter amount of time, depending on the certification program.   The bachelor’s degree could prove better in Minnesota since certification currently is not a requirement.  Some organizations for employment may even require a Master’s degree, reports to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.  Minnesota personal training courses leading to a Master’s degree may be a consideration if the personal trainer wants to advance to another level or another title in their career.  The education level someone needs really depends on what the personal trainer wants and what the employer they want to work for requires.  A personal trainer often works with only one person at a time to find out what their requirements and needs are regarding physical fitness. The trainer will also demonstrate to the client how to do certain exercises and will help them do them themselves, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Personal Trainers in Minneapolis, St. Paul and Rochester, Minnesota may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the United Hospital, Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Children’s of Minnesota and St. Mary’s Hospital.
