Minnesota radiology technician schools typically award an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Radiologic Technology degree for students interested in working as radiology technicians. While some schools also offer certificate programs and bachelor degrees, the associate degree is by far the most commonly pursued. The AAS degree program usually takes 1-2 years to finish, depending on whether you attend part-time of full-time. The bachelor degree, which is a 3- to 4-year degree, is more suited to students that are considering advancing their careers beyond radiologic technology.
The associate degree program is designed to provide students with the necessary tools for an entry-level position as a radiology technician (RT). RTs work with medical imaging equipment that take radiographic images of the body. Because medical technology is constantly changing to meet the needs of patient care, this program culminates general, technical, and clinical aspects to ensure that students are prepared and competent to work in the field.
