Respiratory Therapy Schools in Minnesota - MN

What are the educational requirements for a Respiratory Therapist in Minnesota?
Another great question!  The Associates Degree training program in Respiratory Therapist should provide individuals with hands on training in all of the areas that a Respiratory Therapist will come in contact with.  You will be exposed to mechanical ventilation, pediatrics and neonatology, and cardiopulmonary diseases.  The course work will include physics, mathematics, and anatomy and physiology courses as well.

You need to select from online programs or campus based Minnesota respiratory therapy schools.

There are some things to consider when you are choosing a school that is right for you.  Look at the programs offered.  Do they offer an Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy?  Is the Respiratory Therapy program approved by the National Board of Respiratory Care?  If the school does not have a program specifically related to Respiratory Therapy, do they offer Associates Degrees in other medical-related fields?  Consider the school size and class size.  Will this school provide you with a positive learning experience?

Obtain an Associates Degree, typically a two year program.

Many Minnestoa respiratory therapist schools offer an Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy, which includes a Board approved training program.  If the school you have chosen offers this, it is wise to earn an Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy.  However, it is not required that the Associates Degree be completed in Respiratory Therapy, just a preference.  You may also choose to complete a program in any field, but again, try to choose a field related to medicine.

If the Associates Degree is not in Respiratory Therapy, complete a training program that has been approved by the National Board of Respiratory Care.

Maybe you completed an Associates Degree in a different medical-related field, but have recently gained interest in Respiratory Therapy.  It is not too late!  You can complete a Board approved Respiratory Therapy program in addition to your Associates Degree.

Through campus or online programs, aspiring Respiratory Therapists in Minneapolis, St. Paul and Rochester, Minnesota may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the United Hospital, Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Children’s of Minnesota and St. Mary’s Hospital.
