Healthcare Administration Program In Missouri - MO
By Mat Lindenberg, allied health world contributing writerPublished: July 14th, 2010
Healthcare administration and management is a very diverse career field, but to enter it, in Missouri and elsewhere, you’re going to need a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field. Though a bachelor’s will open up most low level, and some mid-level jobs, for the real complex, rewarding, and best-paid jobs, a master’s degree is essentially mandatory.
To begin your journey towards a healthcare management degree in Missouri, you’ll need to start looking for a school. The easiest way to go about this would be to find and enroll in a healthcare administration program, preferably one accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME), though in this profession such accreditations aren’t nearly as important as they are in others.
There are several schools around the state that offer degree programs in this area, as well an increasing number of online schools that are fast becoming main providers of allied health educations.
Wherever you go, and whether you stop at a bachelor’s or go all the way to a master’s, you’ll learn all about running things; how to manage staff, the best ways to hire and find people, marketing, budgeting, and administrative accounting, how to build teams and improve morale, and everything and anything else related to working as a manager or administrator of a healthcare facility.
Your four-year education will terminate with several months to a year of an internship, either at one facility or a whole bunch, depending on the program. These internships are very important to have on your resume when you start looking for work in Missouri, so make sure you enroll in a program that provides good work experience opportunities.
