The educational path for dental assistants includes a high school curriculum that is weighted with biology, chemistry, and math is the best way to start. Beyond these classes, dental assistants do not have to complete any additional education unless they choose to do so. It is not required in Montana. However, by earning a certificate in this field, it may provide a competitive edge and make one more marketable. Typically these programs last 9-12 months.
