Find the right school for you
Long term care education in Nebraska is the foundation on which you will build a successful career. The first step to beginning your career in this field is to select a long term care school in Nebraska. The school that you choose will depend on which area of long term healthcare that you want to pursue. The important thing to remember is that each of these schools in Nebraska is equipped with a curriculum that will prepare you for working with patients in a long term care setting.
In Nebraska, licensed practical nurses (LPN) are required to have at least one year of collegiate-level education. LPNs are not permitted to practice on their own, but rather they must be supervised by an RN or licensed practitioner. Registered nurses (RN), on the other hand, should have at least an associate degree, preferably a bachelor degree, in health-related studies. RNs can practice individually and often supervise a staff of LPNs.
Because long term care professionals in Nebraska have a firm commitment to the care of elderly, there is a trend occurring where more and more employers in Nebraska are beginning to prefer employees with bachelor-degree levels of education. While this is not currently a requirement, you should be aware of what long term care facilities in Nebraska are potentially looking for.
By enrolling in either online or campus-based programs, aspiring long term care students in Omaha, Lincoln, Bellevue, and Grand Island, Nebraska can look forward to exciting careers with some of the largest healthcare facilities in the state, including Bryan LGH Medical Center, Lincoln Surgical Hospital, Alegent Healthcare, and Blue Cross of Nebraska.
