Medical Assisting training in Nebraska includes accounting, pharmacology, medical ethics, computer technology, communication, and medical terminology. Both administrative office skills, such as recordkeeping and office practices as well as clinical patient-care skills, including patient relations, diagnostic procedures, and medication administration will be taught and refined during the course of study.

Classroom and online courses are available for students seeking to become Medical Assistants in Nebraska. Most all programs require clinical experience.

Medical Assistants face a variety of situations in the course of a day’s work, so they must have a certain level of physical strength and dexterity, good verbal and written communication skills, the ability to handle stressful situations and respond in emergency situations, and the intellectual capacity to process information received from both the patient and medical personnel.

Recertification of credentials can be accomplished by passing the CMA (AAMA) Recertification Examination or by earning 60 continuing education units (AAMA members $65; non-members $130) every five years. Half of the CEUs must be AAMA approved. Ten units must cover administrative topics, ten clinical topics, and ten general topics. Any combination of the categories will fulfill the remaining 30 unit requirement.
