Medical Technologist Salaries in Nebraska

The salaries for medical technologists can vary greatly. The pay scale is heavily dependent on the type of facility worked in, and what sort of role the medical technologist is fulfilling in that facility. These aren’t minor factors- yearly salaries for medical technologists can run the gamut from $45,000, to almost double that.

Even so, the average Nebraska medical technologist salary is already a few thousand above what the Bureau of Labor Statistics lists as the average salary for the occupation- $53,000 as opposed to $50,000.

According to Indeed.com, a salary aggregator, there isn’t any real difference in pay around different areas of Nebraska- all numbers fall pretty evenly between $52,000 and $54,000- possibly owing to the fact that there are high level care and research facilities scattered liberally from one corner of the state to the other.

What really drives your salary, in Nebraska and elsewhere, is what sort of specializations you go after. A Nebraskan phlebotomist makes, on average, half of what a Nebraskan histotechnologist, a medical technologist trained to handle and prepare microscopic samples and slides, does. The trade off, though, is that the phlebotomist will be far more likely to find consistent work.

Of course, there is also a huge demand for ‘regular’ medical technologists, at hospitals and private clinics and care facilities all around the state. Each job comes with its own perks and rewards, and as a medical technologist in Nebraska, you’ll get an excellent opportunity to pursue exactly the kind of career you want.
