Nebraska Nurse Informatics Certification - NE

In order to begin your career in nursing informatics in Nebraska, you must first become certified as a registered nurse in the state of Nebraska.  In order to do this, you must first complete an approved nursing education program, including both educational and clinical components, and then you must pass the NCLEX certification exam.  After completing this, you must then apply for licensure with the Board of Nursing within the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

There is no additional licensure required with the state of Nebraska in order to practice nursing informatics.  Additional training, however, will most likely be required in order to seek employment in nurse informatics.  The next step, therefore, will be to seek out an educational program in nursing informatics.  The majority of nursing informatics programs in Nebraska are post-graduate, master’s level programs.  This means that while only a two-year program is required in order to become licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Nebraska, you will need to complete a bachelor’s degree in order to qualify for participation in a master’s degree program in nursing informatics.

After completing the master’s degree program in nursing informatics, the next step is to sit for the certification exam for Informatics Nursing through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).  This certification ensures that you have met the educational standards necessary to effectively practice as a nursing informatics professional.  Your employer can be assured that they are hiring a competent professional. There is not a specific Nebraska nursing informatics certification.
