Neonatal nurse practitioner programs in Florida usually lead to a Master of Science in Nursing with a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner specialization. Graduate education for neonatal nurse practitioners in Florida prepares the NNP to work in both intensive care and normal newborn nurseries, as well as in the delivery room and in step-down units. Topics studied include the care of the premature infant, infants with cardiac and surgical disorders, and infants with congenital disorders. Programs online and in a traditional school settings are available to Florida residents.

Neonatal nurse practitioner students in Florida must also complete required clinical experiences which, because of the nature of the career of the neonatal nurse practitioner, may occur during the morning, afternoon, evening or overnight hours.
