The process to become a Medical Assistant in Nevada is straightforward. First you must enroll and graduate from a medical assistant program in Nevada that is accredited by the CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs) or ABHES (Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools). Most Nevada medical assistant programs take one to two years, depending on the type of degree granted. All programs include clinical experience. Other requirements may include CPR certifications, drug testing, and other course pre-requisites as needed.

Medical Assistants are quickly becoming valued team members in various clinical settings. They are trained and competent in both front office and back office skills such as medical billing, handling patient records, insurance coding, taking vital signs, collecting specimens, and preparing patients for examinations or treatments. In Nevada, Medical Assistants earn $28,000-$33,000 annually, depending on the level of education, years of experience and geographic location. Most of the population of Nevada is located in cities such as Las Vegas, Reno, and Carson City; however, rural medical facilities also benefit from the expertise and wide range of skills a Medical Assistant offers.
