Medical Transcriptionist Salary in Nevada - NV

By pursuing a career in medical transcription, you have chosen a field with great financial potential. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the typical medical transcription salary in Nevada is $34,860; which makes the average hourly pay rate about $16.76. Yet, it is also important to recognize the financial potential gained after just a few years of working experience. At this level, some medical transcriptionists in Nevada have been known to make about $46,980 per year.

The Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI), the biggest advocate for medical transcription professionals, has created three different medical transcription career levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. The rate of pay at each of these levels varies because of the medical knowledge required of the MT at each respective level.

Recently, however, the AHDI added the additional level of medical editor. These professionals use speech recognition technology to edit reports rather than typing them out. Although each medical transcriptionist may be paid differently based on experience, there is one thing that all MTs can do to increase their income: be more productive.

In general, most medical transcriptionists are paid for each line of transcription they produce; which means that the more lines you can produce, the more money you will earn. This is where the true financial potential of being a medical transcriptionist can be realized.
