Physical therapists are highly trained and highly respected members of the medical community. Most physical therapy programs are now at the doctoral level, which means that physical therapists can command significantly higher salaries than they could even 10 years ago. The employment outlook for physical therapists in the United States is extremely positive, with positions outnumbering trained therapists in most states.
There are only two brick and mortar Nevada physical therapy schools that offer accredited physical therapy degrees that are of high enough caliber to adequately prepare graduates to sit for the national exam. Both programs offer doctoral degrees in physical therapy and both are located in the greater Las Vegas area. There are several online doctoral and master’s level programs in physical therapy, and students should explore those that offer a combination of academic classes and clinical experience.
Physical therapists in Nevada can access continuing education at any of the major colleges or universities in the state. There are also continuing education options at the national and state level, at physical therapy conferences, training institutes, and workshops. One good source of CE opportunities is the Nevada Physical Therapy Association (NPTA) at www.nvapta.org.
